The Amazing Story of the Christopher Wren Church that Stands in Tribute to Winston Churchill and his "Iron Curtain' Speech
Add to WishlistAmerica's National Churchill presents The Amazing Story of the Christopher Wren Church that Stands in Tribute to Winston Churchill and his "Iron Curtain' Speech commemorative booklet. This publication celebrates the 50th anniversary of an historic event that paid tribute to both Winston Churchill and his extraordinary speech in Fulton, Missouri. Preservation of that event is important. It communicates the story of our past to future generations and celebrates our unique history, which includes the Christopher Wren church, the memorial to both Churchill and his famous speech. Representatives of Westminster College boldly undertook the task of relocating the church bombed during the Blitz of London. Its phoenix-like rise in Fulton, Missouri, is a compelling story of unyielding courage and fearless determination in the face of rigorous challenge, ruin and risk. The relocation project is also a tale of resurgence, resurrection, and the renowned and special relationship with the British people who gifted it to the United States. All of the articles in this edition, many of them reprints, give readers a comprehensive look at the events that surrounded the relocation of the British heritage church, St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury from London, England to its new home in Fulton, Missouri. The project culminated in the re-hallowing (rededication) of the church fifty years ago. The booklet can only be found at America's National Churchill Museum, both in store and online.
